This policy explains how The Wellington Ledger uses cookies and similar storage technologies on coralix.org: which categories are involved, how your choice is recorded in the browser and how it can be changed later.
What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a short piece of text that a site leaves in your browser to remember a setting or a choice. Browsers have a comparable local storage area for small entries that stay until they are deleted, and this policy treats both in the same way.
Changing your choice later
You can change your decision at any time: remove this website's stored data in the settings of your browser and reload a page; the earlier value is then gone and a new answer replaces it when you are next asked. Browsers also let you manage cookies yourself, usually in the privacy area of the settings, where entries can be reviewed, removed or refused, for one site or for all of them.
How your choice is recorded
If a notice is displayed and browser storage is available, it saves nothing but your choice, consent or refusal, in the local storage of the current browser (localStorage) and then stays hidden. On a different browser or device it appears once more, because the value was never stored there, and it returns where storage is blocked.
Categories used on this website
coralix.org is an information site: there is no customer account and no checkout, so only a few entries are needed. The strictly necessary category covers what the pages and the server require to work safely, including any entry that records an answer to a cookie notice, and it does not depend on consent.
One of these entries is a cookie set by the server that delivers the pages. It holds a random identifier, no name or contact details, and lets the server recognize a browser that comes back, so that one visit is handled as one and automated misuse can be turned away. It is renewed with each visit and expires 30 days after the last one.
How long entries are stored
Cookies either last for the current session and are discarded when the browser is closed, or they remain for a limited period so that a setting is still known on a later visit. A value saved by a cookie notice is given no expiry date and stays in the browser until it is deleted there.
Content embedded from other providers
At present no content from other providers with cookies of its own is built into this website. Should a map or a video be embedded in future, its provider may store information on your device as soon as it is shown, and this page would be changed before that happens.
Advertising, tracking and personal data
We use no advertising cookies, no marketing pixels and no trackers that follow visitors to other websites, and information from your visit is not sold or passed on for advertising. Where it can be related to a person, our privacy policy explains how we obtain consent, how long we keep information and what your rights are.
Updates to this policy and questions
This policy is amended whenever the technologies used on coralix.org change or new rules make it necessary, and the current version, with the date of its last revision, is always the one on this page. If anything here is unclear, you can reach us at [email protected] or by telephone at (519) 836-4072.
